Akkun, or Dr. Yan, is an engineer living (at least in 1999) on the outskirts of Tokyo. He lived a busy life teaching classes, belonged to an orchestra, loved hiking and winter sports and watched a lot of sci-fi movies. His personal website reads much like a diary and Akkun created animated GIFs to liven up his diary entries. He took inspiration from daily events for his GIF creations. Whereas many Sozai creators have an original character like a cute animal, Akkun created a character based on himself. Akkun's animation style is minimalistic, using a lot of white and basic colors. His background as an engineer becomes apparent from the detailed looking GIFs of electronic devices. Akkun's approach to GIF making and his background made his work stand out in Sozai scene and for this reason his work is featured in the Museum.
